2. What is your favorite neighborhood/area in Mecklenburg County?

There are so many great areas and neighborhoods in the County. But one of Counties most popular areas is the Lake Areas. Lake Norman, which is located in the Northern part of the County, has many areas that are great to go and relax and fun with the whole family.

3. Which cuisine do you think Mecklenburg County does best? What is the runner up?

Mecklenburg County still does BBQ the best. Even though we have the feel of a big county there is still that down home feel. If you are not into BBQ then you might want to try many of our family style restaurants. Go to www.charlotte-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants. 4. What is the best free thing in Mecklenburg County?

There are so many great things to do that you cannot just name one.
Summer Pops at South Park- Symphony perform in the beautiful Symphony Park at South Park.

Freedom Park -Freedom Park has it all: basketball and tennis courts, baseball fields, beautiful wildflowers, a lake, a fountain, playgrounds, geese, ducks and a great trail alongside Sugar Creek. The trail surrounding Freedom Park's enormous lake might be the smoothest stretch of pavement in the all of Queen City. The park includes an adjoining nature museum that's been remodeled since it was built.

James Dowd House-Historic Dowd House was built in 1879 as the home of Confederate Captain James C. Dowd. By 1917, this historic house became the headquarters of Camp Greene, a U.S. Army Military Base.

5. What is your favorite type of entertainment?

Mecklenburg County has been the up and coming area for all sports. The Charlotte Panthers, Charlotte Bobcats, Charlotte Checkers, Nascar just to name a few. The people here are very supportive of our sports teams from High School, College and Pro.

6. List the best Family Friendly activity in Mecklenburg County?

Would you like to get away from the busy city life? Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department offers a variety of outdoor recreation activities. Programs are family-friendly and available for beginners and experts.
Biking, Boating, Camping, Fishing, Hiking/Walking, Horseback Riding, Skateboarding, Inline Skating, Fitness Challenges.

8. Describe your perfect day in Mecklenburg County, one that captures what your area is all about (in 3 sentences or less).

Getting up early on a Saturday morning and going to an area school track to do a 5K Walk/Run to help raise money for the children that cannot afford to go to Summer Camp. The other participants showing up with great support to help these kids. Having the children that cannot afford to go to camp out there to help participate in the 5K by being on the track walking or running, doing the timing, handing out water or whatever is needed for them to do.

9. Tell about a place in Mecklenburg County you love that might be in the guidebooks.

There is something particularly captivating about the sight of a hot air balloon rising effortlessly into the sky over Charlotte. It´s a majestic scene. You can take a magical excursion at the most beautiful times of the day, which occur just after sunrise and about two hours before sunset. Dawn and dusk can provide the most romantic settings imaginable and exceptionally dramatic lighting for all photographs. Your flight will begin with the gentle lifting of the balloon as you float up and away on this picture-perfect experience. You have discovered the joy and tranquility of Ballooning over Mecklenburg County and realize YOU CAN FLY!

10. What question was not asked but should have? Why?

How is the school system in Mecklenburg County? The most asked question by people moving to the area is: What are our schools like? The city's public school system, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, is the second largest in North Carolina and 20th largest in the nation. About 132,000 students are taught in 161 separate elementary, middle and high schools. There were 7 schools in CMS System to be rated in the top 100 schools across the nation for 2007. Secular and religious private schools are prominent, from well-established schools with large campuses to others that are small and new. The relatively recent phenomenon of charter schools, independently operated public schools, are another education option.
